Duplicate Track and Decrease Item Pitch and Rate Info By Leo Pena This is a custom action I created to speed up the process for making a laser sound out of my vocals. The inspiration for the custom action comes from Justin Macleod, who demonstrated a while back how to make a laser sound out of a balloon pop. He indicates that to create this Lazer effect, you need to create duplicate copies of the original source material, decreasing the item pitch and rate by a semitone each time. Because of the decreasing pitch and item rate, it causes a flanging effect to occur on the original source material, making it sound like a laser. To help achieve this quickly, the custom action streamlines the process of duplicating the source material and decreasing the item rate/pitch of the new copies. This custom action consists of four actions: Track: Duplicate tracks Item navigation: select and move to item in next track Item: select all items in track Item properties: decrease item rate by 6% (by one semitone) clear preserve pitch Notes: A. Ideally, if you want to create a laser sound effect, choose something short, like a second in length. However, you may get some very interesting effects if you are doing it across a longer stretch of source material. B. Also, Justin suggests that you would need to duplicate the original audio 12 more times for creating an effective laser sound, but you can experiment with doing fewer item duplications if you don’t want to have a lot of tracks in your project. C. Mess around with applying JS flange baby, a plugin that is in the JS folder stock with Reaper. D. That is all. Have fun! Hope you enjoy using this custom action. Shalom, peace. Leo
