SW1000XG Full Voice Instrument Definition Ver. 2:

The file "sw1kdef2.ins" includes the full voice names according to the XG specification, and not the short 8 character names found in the SW1000XG Data List.

Import this file into Cakewalk (Options->Instruments->Define->Import). Don't double click it in Windows, because on most systems it will be seen as an "internet setup file"! If you want to have a look at the file outside of Cakewalk, you can shift-rightclick it and choose "Open with..." from the menu. Then open it with Wordpad or another text editor...

HISTORY:

01/03/2001
Due to changes in the way Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 handles the instrument definitions, the upper XG banks will no longer be "based upon" the voices in the basic bank. This means that you will just see the bank specific voice names when you choose a higher bank. It was necessary to make this change because using the patch browser became a pain (and was slow).

06/09/1999:
Made it easier to see the bank descriptions in the dropdown lists in CW. Removed some confusing instruments.

19/01/1999:
Created the definition file.

There are two instruments:

1. Yamaha SW1000 XG
- Complete voice list.

If "none" is selected as BANK in track properties, the MU Basic voices will show up in the Patch list when this Yamaha SW1000 XG instrument is chosen.

2. Yamaha SW1000XG Drums
- Drum voices in a separate bank

The drums are included in Yamaha SW1000 XG instrument so you don't have to assign instruments every time you want to add an extra drum part, just choose the right bank...

The instrument "Yamaha SW1000XG Drums" is not really necessary, but it's there if someone want it. Useful for setting up as standard instrument for channel 10...
